Work is BUSY.

Tradeshow season has officially begun. I am up to my eyeballs in work. I'll admit, I enjoy the diversity of my job this time of year.

Last Friday I was wrestling an 8' tall piece of clear corrugated roofing into my not-much-longer-than-8' Camry. Thursday I spent the majority of the day with a heater and a cardboard box larger than myself warming up a shipment of black plastic lids so we could assemble the packages. Then there's the mundane things - figuring out how much ground coffee it will take to serve approx 10,000 booth visitors, trying to estimate if the delivered banner is its proper length - by laying down next to it (I know I'm 5'2"...that should help), visiting 9 stores in an afternoon searching for a suitable "skirt" for our iCashier display (it stands over 8' tall with a 6' "waist"). Plus creating ads, websites, writing articles and the like.

We've been doing this color campaign for our graphical service review for a while now...I've got red, yellow & green coming out my ears. Unfortunately I can't let you in on any top secrets until the shows (3/26-3/28 & 4/28-5/1), but suffice it to say, we will be marketing our colors. And the process of doing so has kept me quite busy.

Dinner at Christie's

Our friends Christie & Darren had us over for dinner at their Sellwood condo on Saturday night. It was truly delicious. These people are amazing at creating food that is both beautiful and tasty.

So, now that we've enjoyed their culinary abilities twice in a's time for us to take up the mantle and give it a try. They've pre-emptively forgiven us for our inadequacy in the kitchen. We'll let you know how it goes (you might check her blog post-meal for an alternate perspective on the experience =).

It's official. We've been married for two years. What better way to celebrate than be iced into our house? That's right, on our two year anniversary, inclement weather favored us and we got to spend the day together!

Best New Year Ever.

Ron surprised me for New Years. For the last three years, I've planned events and several of them have been busts. (Have you ever heard of Wallbangers? That's another story). This year, while driving home from Christmas, he said he was planning it and it was going to be a surprise.

At 4pm on New Years Eve he told me and I was so excited I actually started jumping up and down. He took me to the Champagne Ball downtown Portland. The plans included an overnight stay at the Hilton (where the ball was being held). He wore a black suit, I wore a black/silver sparkly dress. I'd never been to a ball before!

It was exactly what you'd hope a Champagne Ball would be. Several ballrooms with live bands, people dressed to the nines wearing goofy hats and toting noisemakers. Appetizers and desserts abounded. We danced and danced and danced. We drank champagne and we danced. At midnight we were on the dance floor (with about 1000 new friends) covered in confetti and ribbons and a HUGE balloon drop. I've ALWAYS wanted to be under a balloon drop! It was festive on steriods.

When the party was over, we headed up to our hotel room and slept so hard (champagne and dancing will do that to you =). We had a late checkout (2pm) and enjoyed room service for the first time ever.

It was a magical evening.
