Flashback: New York City

We moved to New York City. My parents aren’t really New York City people. My mom enjoyed vibrant cities, but it was maybe just a bit too much for her. But my dad doesn’t even enjoy smaller urban areas. New York to him was disgusting.

He just kept muttering to himself… “why would anyone live here?” What’s really funny is they pay a LOT to live there too.

This was despite the fact that we were staying in a very nice brownstone flat in the Chelsea Area. Granted, we were all a bit on top of each other, but still, it was a nice apartment. Part of the fun was that they wanted to see quite a bit, and we didn’t have a lot of time. It was fun to play tour guide for parents…I wore them out.

Our first day we just arrived and took the time to find Einstein, where Trina’s interview would be. It took over an hour and a half to get there, so we ended up deciding on an alternative route for her, a certain express bus. We also fit in a nice walk in and around Central Park.

It took just as long to get back to our place, and, having also taken a bus from Boston to NYC, we were all pretty wiped out. Plus Trina had to go to bed early for her interview.
